In Linshan Town, Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province, vineyards span over 800 hectares (1,975 acres), marking a significant milestone in the region's agricultural development. A grape farmer cooperative is at the forefront of this change. The vineyard has adopted advanced double- and three-layer greenhouse technology, which has greatly extended the growing season and increased grape yields, with a cumulative output value of more than 300 million yuan.
Electricity has played a key role in advancing agricultural practices, greatly promoting the growth and innovation of grape cultivation in the region. The head of the cooperative, Fu Weiyao, noted, “To meet the escalating electricity needs of the farmers, the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Yuyao service team substantially enhanced the local power grid's performance. They upgraded 30 kilometers of power lines and increased the capacity of a 22,000-kilovolt-ampere substation. With reliable energy supply, all aspects of grape cultivation have been electrified. The improvement of electrical infrastructure has facilitated the rise of 'Linshan Grapes' as a renowned local brand, providing robust support for the region's agriculture.”
In Linshan Town, the well-maintained electrical infrastructure supports the development of the grape industry. From irrigation to harvesting, the town's professional service team regularly inspects the electrical equipment at the plantations, connecting them to the power grid to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity. As the area of grape cultivation increases, the team installs single-phase irrigation meters for smaller growers and three-phase irrigation meters for larger ones, meeting specific energy needs.
During the critical peak demand months of July, August, and September, the usage of electricity for grape irrigation, harvesting, and storage surges. Linshan’s electrical service personnel work tirelessly, and customer managers are on standby, ready to rush to any location within the town to promptly address and resolve power issues, ensuring seamless electricity supply for all growers.
Besides agriculture, the electrical infrastructure has also invigorated the local tourism industry. Linshan hosts several leisure farms, attracting over 60,000 visitors annually to participate in grape picking and rural lifestyle experiences, undoubtedly due in part to the reliable energy supply that supports both agricultural and tourism activities.
