The AWCCA 2018 General Assembly Meeting was held in Shanghai, China on Sept. 26, 2018. More than 40 members and distinguished guests from the Cable & Wire Association and enterprises attended the meeting. Founder members from mainland China (CEEIA-ECWB), Vietnam (HECA), Singapore (ICA), Malaysia (MCMA), Chinese Taiwan (TEWCA) shared updates from their respective countries and region, and new full members including Russia (JSC "VNIIKP"), Singapore （SIGMA），mainland China (DQT & Huatong) also delivered presentations to exchange information. This meeting was hosted by the Electric Cable & Wire Branch of China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association (CEEIA-ECWB).

In this meeting, the revision of AWCCA Directives, AWCCA CHARTER (AWCCA DIR 1:2018) and RULES FOR AWCCA SECRETARIAT (AWCCA DIR 2:2018), were reviewed and approved by the General Assembly. The AWCCA organizational framework and the rights & obligations of members were further clarified in these two Directive documents. The new AWCCA Chairman and Secretariat candidates were elected and approved by the General Assembly. Mr. ZHOU Chizhong, the Chairman of CEEIA-ECWB and General Manager of SECRI, took over the responsibility of AWCCA Chairman. Mr. Bek Chee Jin, Project Leader of ICA-SEA, and Mr. ZHENG Qiu from SECRI respectively took over the responsibility of AWCCA Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General.

Participants of the meeting had an in-depth exchange on the upcoming activities, which include - Development of Standards on INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR CABLE ACCESSORIES, Construction of the mutual recognition mechanism of testing institutions in AWCCA, and Skills training program. All the participants offered valuable suggestions on the follow-up work. Moreover, AWCCA Forum provided a channel for the exchange of information among members. In the AWCCA Forum, members gave speeches on the information of the Wire & Cable industry, including industrial policy, investment policy, market demand and development trend, procurement requirement of main users, current situation of W&C industry, technical level and capability, standard system, testing system and testing organization, the source of main equipments and materials, etc.

Since AWCCA has been established in 2012, we have organized 7 General Assembly meetings, more than 10 activities as technical seminar, technical visit, the visit of International Exhibition Wire China, etc., We have completed 3 AWCCA technical specifications of submarine cables, cables for wind turbine, and cables for photovoltaic power generation system. We have recruited 4 new members of JSC "VNIIKP", Sigma, DQT and HT Cables. Moreover, we are trying to develop a new technical specification of installation guide for power cable accessories and planning to establish AWCCA standard system, Vocational skills training system and mutual recognition of relevant testing result. In the past 6 years, AWCCA has been growing in strength, growing in influence and enriched in work content with the active cooperation and joint efforts of all members. Under the leadership of the new Chairman, AWCCA will continue to focus on the member recruitment, technical documents development, business trade platform construction, project-based organization model. We are trying to serve all the members more pragmatically and efficiently, and actively organize them to participate in and benefit from it.

The 2019 AWCCA General Assembly Meeting will be held in Malaysia, organized by Malaysia Cables Manufacturer Association (MCMA).
