The AWCCA 2017 General Assembly Meeting was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Oct. 30, 2017. Distinguished guests from the Cable and Wire Association of mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Vietnam, and cable and wire company from Singapore attended the meeting. The chairmen group reviewed activities from 2016– 2017and discussed the 2018 working plan. One of the milestones identified in 2017 was the recruitment of new Group/Enterprise Members to AWCCA.

We have received three applications in total, and decisions are made as follow:

1.JSC “VNIIKP”, All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute as the head organization of “Electrocable” Association, has been approved as Group Member.

2.DQT, Guangdong Dongguan Quality Supervision Testing Center from China, has been approved as Enterprise Member.

3.Huatong, Hebei Huatong Wires & Cables Group Co., Ltd. from China, has been approved as Enterprise Member.

4.SIGMA, Sigma Cable Co.(Pte) Ltd. from Singapore, has been approved as Enterprise Member.

A company upon joining AWCCA alliance as a group or enterprise members will have a duty to gather market information on wire and cable related matters in their countries, and share them with other AWCCA members as part of information sharing to enhance and update each other on the market situations in their respective region. An enterprise member just like a group member, it is expected to take part in projects organized under the AWCCA platform in any country as and when required.

Participants of the meeting all proposed activities for 2018 for discussion, which include - Development of Standards on accessories to be used for the various types of cables; Skills training is considered as essential work and AWCCA profession training system establishment is significant and beneficial to all the members. Collaboration with local engineering institutions regarding the ASEAN program on electrical inspections and installations for buildings; AWCCA presentation on Malaysian TNB Expo (national utility exhibition) in July 2018, and Information collection for Standards of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station.

The next AWCCA 2018 General Assembly Meeting will be organized in Shanghai, China.
